We are an Ethiopian elementary school in the town of Bishoftu (Debre Zeit).

About Interlakes International School

Interlakes International School provides Christian-inspired, quality education to Ethiopian and international children ages 3 to 14.
The primarily Ethiopian team (some 60 employees, 25 of whom are teachers) is managed by a couple from the Netherlands.

Interlakes wants to be there for all walks of life, supporting the development of Ethiopia.

Cambridge school

Interlakes is a Cambridge-licensed international school. As such, we follow the Cambridge curriculum and teach most subjects in English. In addition, the languages Amharic and Oromo are also taught

Christian standards

Biblical values are important at Interlakes. Interlakes gives children Christian baggage, while respecting the frameworks set by Ethiopian law.

Private school

Interlakes is a private school; tuition is charged for tuition. The school also has room for sponsor students whose parents cannot pay tuition. The Friends of Interlakes Foundation has no profit objective.

Staff

Interlakes International School provides valuable employment opportunities to the local community. Currently, about 60 Ethiopians work at Interlakes International School.

Child-centered education

Interlakes has relatively small classes, of about 30 students per class. Training and coaching is available for teachers. There is remedial teaching for weaker students.
